Losing 30 Pounds On Medifast: How Long Would It Take?

Losing 30 Pounds On Medifast: How Long Would It Take?

The other day, I got an email from a woman who told me that her sister was getting married in six months. Her goal was to go down 3 dress sizes by that time. Specifically, she felt that she had about thirty pounds to lose. To paraphrase, she asked me “how long does it take for the weight to come off on Medifast? If I have thirty pounds to lose, how soon will this happen? How long will it really take? " I’ll tell you what I told her in the following article.

What Are Typical Medifast Results For Most People?: The company will tell you that most people will lose anywhere from 2-5 pounds per week. I’ve been on this diet for a while and I’m pretty active in the company’s weight loss forums. I can not imagine not hitting the 2 pound per week loss unless you are majorly cheating. Just consuming the low amount of calories / carbs and the high amount of protein contained in the foods should get you to this point.

Of course , some people will hit a plateau later on, but usually when this happens, you’ll lose twice as much the next week so that it all evens out. At this rate (and I honestly believe this is the minimum), it would take you about 15 weeks (almost 4 months) to lose 30 pounds. This more than meets her goals. If she were able to bump that up to 3 pounds per week, she’d get there in a little over 3 months. If she were one of the lucky people who reached 5 pounds per week, she’d reach her goal after only six weeks.

How Much Control Do You Have Over How Much Weight You Lose (And How Long It Takes) With Medifast?: Often when I tell people what I’ve just told you, I hear things like “well my metabolism is slow, " or “I’m usually not as successful on diets, " or “for me, the weight is usually slow to come off. " Many of us said the same things, but I’m down over 90 pounds. It is my experience that if you follow the directions and make reasonably decent choices for your “lean and green meal, " you shouldn’t have any problem hitting two weekly pounds lost. And, this should not be too difficult. Medifast works because it puts your body in ketosis. This means that your body begins to burn it’s own fat. You’ll get in and stay in ketosis if you eat the foods that you order and you follow the “lean and green" guidelines.

I told my reader that if waiting 15 weeks to reach her goal was too long, she could always just do some gentle exercise. You really shouldn’t go overboard when your body is adjusting. But just power walking or wearing a weight vest can contribute an additional 200 or so calories per day. This can really add up and the additional muscle that you’re building will help you burn more fat, lose more weight, and will also make your body look leaner and longer in the end. I told her that depending on what type of dress she was going to be wearing, starting some sort of exercise would be a good idea anyway. It’s easier than you think to get toned arms (which most styles today demand), a flatter belly, and longer lines.

However , whatever strategy she chose to take, I told her that by no means should she skip meals. This will only delay the fat burning and slow her metabolism. Eating often and eating smart is the key to this whole thing working.
