A Kim Kardashian-esque Butt Can Be Yours

A Kim Kardashian-esque Butt Can Be Yours

What’s the most-desired rear in America? It belongs to reality star Kim Kardashian, who has one of the most recognizable backsides in all of Hollywood—it almost single handedly redefined the body-hugging bandage dress.

It’s no secret that men love curvy behinds, but do women love them too? Though the reality star was unable to fit her best asset into her 2011 Grammy gown, ladies everywhere still wanted to know how they could emulate the fashionista’s shapely bottom.

Kim’s isn’t the only coveted derriere either. Latin legend Jennifer Lopez has another seat to strive for, while Beyonce, Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Alba follow close behind.

Want to plump, tighten and tone your tush too? You can, through exercise, temporary butt-enhancing panties (an instant, albeit temporary, bottom bulker), and even surgical procedures.

Work it out

One of the main reasons why exercisers hit the gym is to bulk up their glutes-the most prominent muscles in the butt. Though many movements can strengthen the gluteal muscles, some are more effective than others. According to the American Council on Exercise, the traditional squat, though valuable, is trumped by modified versions like the single-leg squat. Other exercises known to deliver results are quadruped hip extensions, step-ups, lunges and four-way hip extensions.

Try these simple workouts four days a week, and you could get Kim’s curvy-sexy look for yourself.

Build Muscles

Weighted Squats

Holding five- to 10-pound dumbbells in each hand, sit down in a chair-like position so that your thighs are parallel with the floor. Lean into your heels, squeeze your glute muscles, and stand back up. Repeat 10 to 15 times.

Single-Leg Lunges

Begin in a lunge with one foot behind you. Hold five- to 10-pound weights in each hand. Slowly lunge down and push back up; you should feel the burn in the glute of the front leg. For added intensity, place the back foot on a slightly elevated workout bench. Perform 10 to 15 repetitions on each side.

Step-ups

Place a slightly elevated workout bench in front of you. Place your right foot on top of the bench and keep the left foot on the floor. Step up so both legs are on top of the bench. Step the right foot back down. Repeat 15 repetitions per leg.

Tracy Anderson

The tight-bummed Gwyneth Paltrow claims to have had a dumpy butt, that is, until celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson whipped her into shape. The Tracy Anderson Method, which consists of aerobic dance, strength training (using up to three-pound weights or none at all), and stretching, is performed six days a week for one to two hours at a time.

The Bar Method

As Bar Method founder Burr Leonard knows, a tight buttock takes hard work. The Bar Method blends ballet barre routines and isometric movements to target various muscle groups, especially in the lower half of the body. The dance-inflected routines call on the glutes, thus sculpting your backside.

Pilates

When Catherine Middleton walked down the aisle to wed Prince William in front of nearly two-billion viewers, all eyes were on her little sisters bum. Pippa’s perfect bottom is the result of Pilates—and a well-tailored Alexander McQueen bridesmaids gown.

Pilates relies on resistance training to improve muscle tone and posture, not to mention balance, coordination and mental clarity. Results are not immediate, and most trainers say it could take up to 30 sessions to see significant changes.

Surgery

For some, genetics makes it nearly impossible to get a more pleasing bottom through exercise alone. If that’s the case, then aggressive cosmetic treatments may be able to improve the shape of your buttock. Surgical procedures, like a buttock lift or implants, can reshape your lower half, though it won’t happen overnight.

Brazilian Buttock Lift

Butt lifts have become more and more popular over the last 10 years, increasing by 143 percent in the U. S. The surgical procedure augments the size and shape of the buttock by removing fat from one part of the body via liposuction and transferring the cells back into your rump. The result: a perkier profile from the waist down.

Gluteal Implants

Gluteal implants are silicone inserts that increase the size and enhance the shape of the buttocks. Large bootied celebrities like Kim Kardashian and J Lo have contributed to the rising number of procedures performed in the last decade. In 2010, the number of buttock augmentation procedures performed increased by 404 percent.

Wardrobe

In a hurry? Choose the right accessories for butt enhancement.

Stilletos

Try to picture Kim in anything but a pair of sky-high stilettos, and you might come up blank. That’s because the sexy starlet is obsessed with heels—especially those crafted by designers Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo. “I am a designer shoe girl. It sounds like I’m such a brat, but it’s what I love to wear, " she once said. Any pair of heels will do the trick.

High heels give the buttock a more defined shape, while also adding length to your legs (another trick for enhancing your bottom).

Shapewear

Body suits, thigh shapers and butt boosting spandex can suck in, lift up, and firm your rear end, providing a more flattering shape beneath your clothing. Of the vast world of spandex undergarments, Kim has said, “Spanx are my best friend! "

Padded Inserts

Need a curvier bottom—like, yesterday? Padded panties, butt lifters and the so-called booty bra offer instant results. (Removable butt pads are available for men too. )
